cnb-cnb-core@35.2.7
Malicious code in cnb-cnb-core (npm)
Analysis
cnb-cnb-core@35.2.7 is a remote binary download-and-execute dropper. Its main module loads a bundled shim that, on require, downloads a platform-specific binary payload over HTTPS from Cloudflare Workers C2 hosts (oob-worker[.]cf103-070[.]workers[.]dev, oob-worker[.]cf102-baf[.]workers[.]dev, oob-worker[.]cf100-416[.]workers[.]dev) at paths /pkg/package, /pkg/package-arm64, /pkg/loader_mac, or /pkg/package.exe. If the HTTP download fails it falls back to a DNS TXT exfiltration channel on the wel1[.]ru domains (sdk[.]dl[.]wel1[.]ru, ext[.]dl[.]wel1[.]ru, pkg[.]dl[.]wel1[.]ru, net[.]dl[.]wel1[.]ru), reconstructing a base64 payload from TXT records. The payload is written to /var/tmp/.cache_<hex> (or %TEMP%\dotnet_diag_<hex>.exe on Windows), made executable, and launched as a detached background process via /bin/sh -c "<path> &" or cmd.exe /c start /b. A state file at /tmp/.analytics_state throttles re-execution.
