invest-module-cookie@20.8.2
Malicious code in invest-module-cookie (npm)
Analysis
invest-module-cookie@20.8.2 is a multi-platform binary dropper. When required, _adapter.js fingerprints the OS/arch (Windows, macOS, Linux x64, Linux arm64) and downloads a platform-specific binary from Cloudflare Workers C2 endpoints (oob-worker[.]cf102-baf[.]workers[.]dev, oob-worker[.]cf100-416[.]workers[.]dev, oob-worker[.]cf103-070[.]workers[.]dev) via HTTPS GET to paths like /pkg/package, /pkg/package-arm64, /pkg/loader_mac, or /pkg/package.exe. It also uses DNS TXT record exfiltration from c[.]tin[.]dl[.]well1[.]site as a fallback channel. The downloaded binary is written to /var/tmp/.cache_<hex> (Linux/macOS) or %TEMP%\dotnet_diag_<hex>.exe (Windows) and spawned as a detached background process (cmd.exe /c start /b on Windows, /bin/sh -c "file &" on Unix). A cooldown file at /tmp/.analytics_state or %TEMP%\analytics_state prevents re-execution within ~5.7 hours.
