Analysis

This package is a trojanized clone of the WhiskeySockets/Baileys WhatsApp Web library with an injected channel-enrolment payload. lib/Socket/newsletter.js hardcodes the channel JID 120363411407993897@newsletter and, unless the caller explicitly sets config.autoFollowChannels = false, calls autoFollowChannel() during socket construction, which schedules channelManager.autoFollowAll(1500) 15 seconds later and retries at 30s, 60s, 120s, 300s and 600s. The enrolment is deliberately concealed from the caller's configuration: lib/Utils/channel-manager.js autoFollowAll() unconditionally re-adds DEFAULT_CHANNEL to the follow set even when the caller supplied their own channel list, remove() refuses to delete the default channel unless force is passed, clear() re-inserts it, and _setupAutoFollowOnConnect() repeats the follow every time the connection reaches the 'open' state. The result is that a bot operator's own WhatsApp account is subscribed to the author's channel without an explicit opt-in and without any visible configuration change. The package also ships a Telegram bridge (lib/Utils/telegram-adapter.js) that contacts api[.]telegram[.]org with a caller-supplied bot token, and a self version check against registry[.]npmjs[.]org. No credential, token or environment-variable harvesting was found, and no network destination other than WhatsApp, Telegram and the npm registry is contacted.
